Girls’ Trip to Times Square: What to See and Do

Gather your girls and plan your next girls’ trip to Times Square in New York City. This happening neighborhood is more than just the place the mirror ball drops on New Year’s Eve; it is a part of the very active theater scene and one of the main hubs of the city.

You can easily spend a weekend or even an entire week exploring Times Square. Snap a selfie with the big jumbotron where you can even have a personalized message displayed for a hefty fee.

Pack your bags and head to the Big Apple for a girls’ trip to beat all other trips you have taken with your gal pals. Just remember to use a luggage storage locker when you are out and about to stow your large bags for safekeeping.

Madame Tussauds New York

Madame Tussauds opened in 2000 in Times Square and has become a popular tourist attraction. Get an up-close-and-personal experience with many of your favorite stars, past, and present. The life-like wax figures are truly amazing to see in person.

Many interactive displays will leave you in awe, especially the Marvel Super Hero 4D experience and the Ghostbusters Dimension. With over 85,000 square feet and five levels to explore, you and your girlfriends will have a blast.

Long lines will quickly form, especially on the weekends, so get your tickets in advance and skip the long lines at the ticket counter.

One Times Square

This historic skyscraper rises 363 feet in the air and is 25 stories. It is the backdrop for the iconic annual New York City New Year’s Eve celebration and ceremonial mirror ball drop. It sits in the heart of Times Square and is one of the most photographed places.

The building was designed by Cyrus L.W. Eidlitz and was the original headquarters for the New York Times in 1905. The paper moved its headquarters in 1913 and the building sat empty for years.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

You and your gal pals can score tickets to watch the popular CBS talk show taped each weekday at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Tickets are free, but you have to get them early as they are released about two months ahead of the taping.

You don’t even have to really be a fan of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert to sit in on a taping of the show. Just getting to experience how a talk show is set up and filmed is exciting.

The Daily Show with Trevor Noah

If you are not able to score tickets to the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, then maybe you can get tickets to watch the taping of the Daily Show with Trevor Noah. Comedian Jon Stewart used to host the show but Trevor Noah took over in 2015.

The show is taped every weekday and tickets are free, but it can be tricky to nab tickets unless you can get them well in advance. The studio where the Daily Show with Trevor Noah is filmed is in Hell’s Kitchen, another great place to visit with your girls.

Woodbury Common Shopping Trip

While the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets are not in Times Square, they are but a short train ride away in Central Valley. Here you can find fantastic deals on name brands without paying the high prices.

Browse through Prada, Coach, Lacoste, Burberry, and Nike for great deals. You will find even better deals when you get your VIP coupon booklet along with a New York City Explorer Pass Card
